"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

I'd suggest that you read here: FAQ #8:What does deviantART consider to be Art Theft? deviantArt is an online community for posting and sharing work that you have created yourself, and not work that you have found on the internet and really like. Accounts on sites such as photobucket are used for things like that. Here on deviantArt, your gallery is like your portfolio and posting work that is not your own is considered "art theft" and "copyright violation". Art theft is a serious business: when posting work that you haven't done yourself, you have violated the laws of copyright, whether or not you intended to or were aware that you were breaking a law. Also, if the staff comes across these images on your page, they will remove them from your gallery, and also possibly suspend or ban you from this site, not allowing you to come back. To avoid this, please remove any art that you didn't do yourself and that you didn't have license to use by the original artist.
